Tolls Suspended on Turnpike till Further Notice
Tolls Suspended until further notice.
To aid in evacuations due to the anticipated landfall of Tropical Storm Fay, effective at 6 a.m., EDT, Tuesday, August 19, 2008, tolls will be suspended on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, the Pinellas Bayway, the Selmon Crosstown Expressway, the Veterans Expressway/Suncoast Parkway (Toll589) and the Polk Parkway (Toll 570) until further notice.
Effective at 10 p.m. Monday, August 18, tolls will be suspended until further notice on the following:
Florida's Turnpike, northbound and southbound, from the Lantana toll plaza at Milepost 88 in Palm Beach County to the Three Lakes toll plaza at Milepost 236 in Osceola County.
Elsewhere, tolls remained suspended on as follows:
•· Florida's Turnpike, northbound and southbound, from its southernmost point at the South Dixie Highway/US 1 (Exit 1) in Miami-Dade County to the Boynton Beach Boulevard interchange (Exit 86) in Palm Beach County.
•· All toll roads operated by the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority (MDX), including SR 836, SR 874, SR 112, SR 924 (Gratigny Parkway) and SR 878 (Snapper Creek Expressway) in both directions.
•· Sawgrass Expressway, northbound and southbound.
•· Interstate 75 (Alligator Alley), eastbound and westbound.
•· The Rickenbacker and Venetian causeways in Miami-Dade County).
Motorists should slow down and use caution when approaching toll plazas, but should not stop. Personnel may not be on duty in the plazas to answer questions. While tolls remain suspended, SunPass and E-PASS customers may hear their transponders emit a tone, however, they should rest assured their accounts are not being charged.
