What is so funny?
Comments 0 | Recommend 0It's a stress-relieving yoga class, new to one local beach town. Some people may point and laugh, but these people don't mind, they laugh back. They're grown adults who need a release.
Instructor Howard Stone said, "I would imagine when people are going by they think we're a bunch of crazy people, or they wish they could join.
It's called laughing yoga. A group of about 20 people, meeting every Wednesday at sunrise right here at the Juno Beach Pier. They're here for relief. Everyday stress, family problems, the rough economy, all off limits. This class, a break, a chance to act childish.
One participant said, "It's a wonderful way to start the day."
The class acts out different high stress scenarios that you might run into during an average day. They say its practice so they can react to everything with a positive attitude, even when the hour long session ends.
Stone said, "One of the exercises we get in front of a bridge that goes up, we laugh so our take on life is a little lighter."
The certified instructor, says it isn't just in your head, when it comes to getting your heart rate up laughing is like running.
He said, "Laughter does produce extra oxygen and endorphins just like any other exercise does."
A participant said, "It's always something that we can do, if we just remember to turn away from the seriousness and take a break."
So no matter why you're here the instructor hopes you take this class at face value. It's December in South Florida, and you just started your day laughing on the beach.
