West Palm Beach man recovering after being accidentally shot by police

WEST PALM BEACH-- A West Palm man is recovering after accidentally getting caught in line of fire. CBS 12 tracked down John Hicks at his home not far from where the chaotic incident took place at the corner of Fourth and Sapodilla Street.

His arm was wrapped with a gauze bandage. Hicks says a bullet went right through his triceps, adding he was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Police were serving an arrest warrant at a neighborhood home when an aggressive pit bull attacked several officers.

After a fire extinguisher failed, police opened fire on the dog who died from gun shot wounds.  Hicks was struck by one of the bullets that was fired at the pit bull.  West Police Beach Police say the officers involved in this shooting will not be put on administrative leave given the circumstances of the incident.
An investigation is underway.
