Meal Deals: Pulled Pork

That doesn't sound appetizing, but Chef david Pantone with the Florida Culinary Institute will change your mind. You can slow cook a cut of pork called a fresh picnic. By slow cooking it we were able to make amazing pulled pork sandwich. The pork is $1.69 a pound. One serving will cost you about $2.20.
Slow Cooker - Southern Style BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich
1 - ½ fresh pork picnic
2 tablespoons oil
1 large onion, cut in half, sliced
2 bottles of your favorite BBQ sauce
2 cups water
¼ cup cider vinegar (optional, if you like it to be tangy)
Nice buns or rolls to serve it on
A few very, very thin slices of red onion (optional)
Big fat dill pickle (optional)
Season meat with salt and pepper on all sides. Heat oil in a large skillet and brown meat on all sides. Place meat in slow cooker. Add onions to hot skillet and stirring constantly cook for about 3 minutes. Add stock and water. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and pour all into the slow cooker. Cover and set slow cooker for 4 hours on high setting or 8 hours on low setting.
Serve on bun with a few slices of onion and a pickle.
