Investigators have charged 44 people for "Operation Bad Refunds," an ongoing systematic scheme to defraud personal tax preparation services out of tens of thousands of dollars.
At a news conference this morning, Palm Beach County State Attorney Michael McAuliffe said about half of those people are in custody.
Leroy Walker, 24, and Tonia Marcia Williams, 41, who both live at 727 W. Tiffany Drive in West Palm Beach, were arrested by Sheriff's deputies Wednesday night on charges that include racketeering and fraud involving $50,000 or more.
