Damon Weaver makes history, interviews President Obama
Comments 0 | Recommend 0It seems persistence does pay off.
Our favorite pint-sized reporter from Pahokee just finished interviewing the President of the United States.
Damon Weaver's teacher tells CBS12 the grade-schooler finally scored the interview with President Barack Obama that he has been waiting for. He has made history by becoming the youngest reporter to conduct a one-on-one interview with a sitting President.
The Canal Point Elementary School student interviewed President Obama for about an hour in the White House Diplomatic Room, asking twelve questions focusing on education, community safety and reduction of violence in urban areas.
The White House has also arranged for Damon Weaver to do a news conference on the South Lawn of the White House tomorrow morning regarding his interview with the President. Damon will be fielding questions from the Today Show, Good Morning America and The Early Show and later with other network reporters.
In an effort to give the school an exclusive release, the White House gave them permission to post the interview in its entirety on Youtube.com/Canal PointKECTV between 7-8 p.m. tonight. We expect to have it for you tonight on CBS 12 News at 11 o'clock.
