Lawsuit Anticipated in Deadly Crash

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

A crash that killed three teenagers near Stuart early Tuesday will result in at least one lawsuit.

The parents of one of the victims who died, 16 year old Connor Graver, have hired a lawyer who says they plan to seek quote: "substantial damages" against a contractor who was doing road work the night of the crash on Cove Road near US-1.

The lawyer says the contractor should have closed a lane of the road where the work was being done, and they should've had flashing lights or a flagman to warn approaching drivers of the need to slow down.

"From our perspective, there seems to have been several safety measures that could've been undertaken by the contractor which they failed to do which could've possibly prevented this terrible, terrible tragedy from ever happening," said attorney Scott Donaldson of Palm Beach Gardens.

We could not reach the contractor for comment.

The three teens were killed about 2 in the morning Tuesday August 4 when their SUV hit a front-end loader in a construction zone on Cove Road.

Authorities have said that beer cans were found in the SUV and that alcohol may have been a factor.

Besides Connor Graver, Nicholas Coady of Stuart and Christopher Briglio of Tequesta, both 18 also died in the accident. The driver of the front-end loader was not hurt.
