Shelter Adoption Sale: Puppies and kittens half off
Furniture sales and car sales are part of the 4th of July tradition. Now you can add pet adoption sales to that. The Humane Society of St. Lucie County is having a 50% off sale.
That means it's cutting the cost of adopting cats, dogs and even rabbits in half. But it is for this weekend only.
Staff are also spending their holiday weekend to help ease the shelters overcrowding.
"I think it is in part to the economy. I think it is in part due to the fact that we are coming out of springtime. In May and June we see a lot of little puppies and kittens and now they are about 8 to 9 weeks old and ready for adoption," said one staff member.
Cats normally cost 460 dollars to adopt and dogs $75 dollars, but you have until 2 p.m. Saturday to get one for half that price.
