Seafood Festival Donates Ton of Food to Food Pantry
(Port Salerno) You loved your seafood. Now the Salerno Seafood Festival is giving back.
The third annual Salerno Seafood Festival turned out a crowd 25,000-strong last weekend.
Admission was free with canned goods, and now those goods are going to feed local families from the Grace Place Food Pantry.
They loaded up a ton of food today that will be distributed among local Stuart and Port Salerno churches and pantries.
All food banks are running low, with a record number of families coming in for help, and donations dropping off.
"They did this in one day," Karon Addison, with Grace Place Church said, "It would probably take us weeks, over a period of several weeks, and to have this come together on this short of notice is a wonderful blessing and it will be a blessing in our community. "
From Spaghetti-O's to Girl Scout cookies, the pantry says they appreciate every single donation.
The festival organizers say they are glad to give back and hope next year's event is even bigger.
