Man Who Shot Deputy Gets Life in Prison

A Port Salerno man, convicted of attempted murder on a Martin County Sheriff's Deputy, has been sentenced. Durell Sims was sentenced to life in prison. The shooting happened back in May of 2006, when Sims opened fire on Deputy Dale Howard. Sims shot Howard with an AK-47 assault rifle during a traffic stop. Sims says he will appeal the sentence.
