$40,000 Dollars of Copper Stolen from Baby Cemetery
Families are coming to grips with the crime when they come to visit grave sites.
Thieves are hitting up cemeteries, looking for copper. A Tampa area cemetery was hit with more than one thousand valuable vases worth more than $40,000 dollars taken. The cemetery, in this case, is for babies and toddlers.. And now families are coming to grips with the crime when they come to visit grave sites.
"I think what it is, is pretty low. I just can't believe they would do something like this especially on babies graves," Steven Quinehan said.
"It's upsetting knowing that a troubled soul would come in here and just want to run around robbing vases and disrespecting all of these families," Tracey Beale said.
Each vase made of bronze and copper is worth anywhere from $400 to $600 dollars on its own. Cemetery keepers will replace every stolen vase.
