Female Motorcyclist Killed
"I think it's all a nightmare. I don't even believe that it's happening."
That's what John Tacoma has to say about the crash last night that killed his sister, 55 year old Theresa Tacoma of Greenacres.
Theresa, a Postal Service employee, was riding her Harley home from work Tuesday evening when police say a driver in an SUV plowed into her from behind. She was hit so hard, she flew off the motorcycle and the driver continued on, dragging the bike under his SUV at least a hundred yards through the intersection of Haverhill and 10th Avenue North in Greenacres.
Her brother says Theresa, who was unmarried, started riding her motorcycle to work recently, because gas prices were getting so expensive.
"She was a great person, good-hearted. She was always there for you. Would always do everything for you, and do everything for everybody. She was well-loved. I don't think anybody ever had a bad thing to say about her," Tacoma says.
Police have charged the driver of the SUV, 22 year old Adonai Gonzalez of West Palm Beach, with leaving the scene of an accident involving a death and driving without a license.
They say he had a Mexican ID card, but no Florida driver's license and may have been in this country illegally.
Investigators say Gonzalez actually caused two crashes about a half-mile apart.
First, he hit a car at Haverhill and Cresthaven Boulevard about 6:30 and then kept going and seconds later he slammed into two more cars and Theresa's Harley at Haverhill and 10th Avenue before he got out of the SUV and walked or ran. Police caught him about a block away.
"Hope he gets everything that's comin' to him. Can't say anymore. I just hope he gets what he deserves and really whatever he gets it won't be enough because it won't bring my sister's life back," Tacoma told us.
