Kittens Used As Target Practice
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control says someone is using kittens as target practice.
Animal Control officers are calling this case animal cruelty at its worst and are desperate to find the culprit!
"It's crazy I mean I didn't know we had that going on in this community," said Mangonia Park Resident David Ross.
Someone in Ross' Tiffany Lake neighborhood is using kittens for target practice, using a BB gun. Two one pound kittens were shot, and only one of them survived. X-rays show that kitten was shot once in the leg. The other kitten was shot several times.
"The BB that ultimately killed the animal went straight through the head and actually cracked the skull and that exited the animal's body, but there were still four to five others still within," said Animal Control and Care Captain David Walesky.
"There's no explanation for why somebody would have done this, this is felony animal cruelty at its worst."
Captain Walesky says they found the kittens Sunday after an anonymous tip, but that they have very little information, have already exhausted their leads, and haven't heard anything from anyone else in the neighborhood.
"There's a fear factor. People are scared at times," said Walesky.
"It's an issue that we definitely need to do something about," said Ross.
Anyone with information is urged to call Crimestoppers. 1-800-458-TIPS.
