Drunk woman falls on subway tracks
Comments 0 | Recommend 0BOSTON -- A drunk woman who fell on the train tracks at North Station is now resting at home, police said Monday.
At about 1 a.m. this morning, the woman stumbled on the platform and fell onto the train tracks, just as the orange line was approaching. People waiting for the train flagged down the driver, who made an emergency stop.
Police said the front end of the train was actually over the woman.
"How she did not get hit or hit the third rail is amazing and were very thankful that the passengers were able to stop that train," an investigator said.
The train operator has been on the job three years and was quick to notice something was wrong.
Other passengers helped pick the woman off the tracks and lift her back onto the platform. It was a dangerous move because the track's "third rail" carries 600 volts of electricity.
