Man tried to kill girlfriend with knife and fork, deputies say

During an argument over their relationship, a man repeatedly tried to stab his live-in girlfriend with a fork, then pulled out a folding knife and tried to stab her with that, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

Arlen Arguijo, 36, is charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault in the attack at the couple's home on Lakewood Road near Lake Worth around 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Maria Perez, 27, told deputies she wrestled a fork away from Arguijo, but he then took the knife out of his pocket, made a stabbing motion toward her chest and repeatedly threatened to kill and her children. When she raised her hands to defend herself, he cut one of her fingers, the sheriff's office said.

Perez was able to run out of the house and a witness intervened to help her.

Argujio is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail.
