Lynn University honors six who died in quake
More than 1,000 people turned out on a gray, rainy Friday afternoon to honor four female students and two faculty members who died in the Haiti earthquake.
The group from Lynn University was in Haiti to help the poor two months ago, and were crushed when their hotel collapsed on top of them.
The university president praised those who died, saying they went to Haiti to give people hope by helping to feed the hungry.
"Our grief remains strongest for the six we lost from our university. But it extends to all those whose lives were taken too early and without cause," said Dr. Kevin Ross, university president.
He told the crowd the group spent their last hours on earth serving some of the poorest people in the world and they will never be forgotten. He said they have earned a place in our hearts.
