ABC Liquor store 'smash and grab' burglar busted

On Wednesday, June 24, 2009, detectives with the Boca Raton Police Services Department arrested Fabian Vazquez in connection with the March 16 burglary of the ABC Liquor Store, 6998 North Federal Highway. During the burglary, the suspect used a vehicle to smash out the front doors of the store and the store surveillance video shows the suspect taking several bottles of Captain Morgan rum.

On Sunday, June 21, 2009, during an interview with a suspect in an unrelated criminal matter, he gave officers information about the ABC Liquor Store burglary. Based on this information, the vehicle, a Mercury Sable, which was reported stolen on March 16th and was recovered in Delray Beach. The suspect also identified the burglar as Fabian Vazquez.

On Wednesday, June 24, detectives, who had ascertained that Vazquez was staying with a friend in Boca Raton, located Vazquez at 114 Burning Tree Lane. Detectives took Vazquez into custody without incident. Detectives interviewed Vazquez, who admitted to committing the burglary. Vazquez was charged with burglary and theft.
