Woman charged in 2 traffic deaths
BOCA RATON -- A 20-year-old woman was charged with two counts vehicular manslaughter today -- six months after she rear-ended another vehicle hard enough to eject two of its occupants out of their vehicle, according to investigators.
Daniela Torres, 20, was driving with a .15 blood alcohol level north on Interstate 95 near Yamato Road when she hit the vehicle, according to Florida Highway Patrol. James Carr, of Boca Raton, and Deborah Peterson, of Pompano Beach, were both killed. A third occupant, Calvin Braggs, survived the impact but is still recovering, said Lt. Tim Frith.
Torres is in Palm Beach County Jail and is expected to go before a judge in the morning.
