Man stuck upside down in cave
Comments 0 | Recommend 0More than 40 search and rescue members are continuing to work to free a Utah man who is stuck upside down in a cave.
Twenty six year old John Jones and a group of 11 family and friends decided to explore the Nutty Putty cave in rural Utah Tuesday. It's located about 45 miles southwest of Salt Lake City.
Jones was going head first down a narrow part of the cave around nine o'clock when he got stuck.
Rescuers are using air powered tools to chip away at the rock. They say he is stuck in an L-shaped section that's about 18 inches wide. So far rescuers have only been able to move Jones about 12 feet. He is being given water and rescuers say the temperature in the cave is about 60 degrees, so cold is not a problem.
The cave is actually a hole on the top of a hill. It's about 15-hundred feet long and is a popular area for people to visit.
About five years ago a 16 year old boy was stuck in the exact same place. It took rescuers about ten hours to free him.
