Athlete of the Week

This is the 48th year that WPEC CBS 12 has been honoring high school athletes in our five county area. Through the years we have paid tribute to a vast number of athletes who have gone onto greatness in their respective sport. For example, North Shore star Derek Harper went on to play in the NBA, Glades Central grads Fred Taylor and Santonio Holmes play in the NFL as does former Pahokee star Anquan Boldin. Mark Calcavecchia has enjoyed a brilliant career on the PGA tour, while Morgan Pressel and Michele McGann have won tournaments on the LPGA tour. Major league baseball has several former athletes of week winners including Palm Beach Gardens high grad Chris Volstad and Robbie Thompson of Forest Hill.
