All eyes on Wide Receiver Mike Wallace

By John Evenson

All eyes will be on Miami Dolphins wide receiver Mike Wallace this Sunday in Indianapolis, as the big money acquisition had major struggles in his Dolphins debut. Wallace could only muster up one catch for 15 yards in the Dolphins' 23-10 win in Cleveland on Sunday, and reportedly told some writers after the game to go ask the coach why he struggled, suggesting that the game plan was out of his hands.

He clarified his statements on Monday saying that he was mad at himself after the game, and really didn't have the answers at the time as to why he struggled.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- The Kansas City Royals try for their third straight win in the World Series tonight as they hope to build on last night's 3-2 victory. The win gave the American League champs a 2-1 series lead.

The weather forecast is iffy as the National Weather Service is calling for a 60 percent chance of showers by game time.

It's Ryan Vogelsong on the mound for the Giants against Jason Vargas for the Royals.

UNDATED (AP) -- In early results from Top-25 play No. 11 Kansas State had no trouble with Texas and No. 16 Nebraska breezed by Rutgers.

First up, the 11th-ranked Wildcats blanked the Longhorns 23-0 as Matthew McCrane kicked three field goals, and DeMarcus Robinson and Charles Jones each ran for a touchdown. KState is now 6-1 overall and 4-0 in league play. Jake Waters threw for 224 yards, and Tyler Lockett had eight catches for 103 yards to climb another notch in the school record books. The shutout loss is the first for Texas in 10 years. It was also the first shutout by the Wildcats since beating Kent State 37-0 three years ago, and the first in conference play since Nov. 8, 2003.

The 16th-ranked Cornhuskers got 225 yards rushing from Ameer Abdullah and three touchdowns as he set a school record with 341 all-purpose yards in their 42-24 win over Rutgers. Abdullah surpassed 200 yards rushing for a nation-leading fourth time this season and fifth time in his career. The win leaves Nebraska with a record of 7-1 and 3-1 in Big Ten play while Rutgers, which lost to Ohio State a week ago 56-17, is 5-3 and 1-3.

Third-ranked and undefeated Mississippi is in Baton Rouge for a tough test tonight against 24th-ranked LSU. Ole Miss is firmly in the race for a Southeastern Conference title and a spot in the four-team college football playoff, but a stumble against the Tigers would at least dent the Rebels' hopes of accomplishing both. LSU maintains slim hopes of getting back into the SEC West race, knowing it'll have to win its last four league games -- and get some help -- in order to climb up the standings

In other Top-5 matchups today:

-- Fourth-ranked Alabama is at Tennessee tonight. Alabama likely must win this game to keep its hopes of reaching the College Football Playoff alive. A victory would help the Crimson Tide remain just behind No. 1 Mississippi State and No. 3 Mississippi in the SEC West.

-- Fifth-ranked Auburn hosts 4-3 South Carolina tonight. The Tigers are trying to rebound from a loss to No. 1 Mississippi State two weeks ago and might need to win out to have a shot at capturing the SEC West title and making the College Football Playoff. South Carolina is trying to snap a two-game SEC losing streak

UNDATED (AP) -- Defensive tackle Gerald McCoy has signed a seven-year extension with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The $98 million deal makes McCoy the highest-paid player at his position. A 2013 All-Pro, McCoy will get $51.5 million guaranteed, the most ever given to a defensive tackle in NFL history. His new deal will average $14 million per year.

LONDON (AP) -- When Detroit and Atlanta square off Sunday in London, the Lions won't have defensive tackle C.J. Mosley on the sidelines. He was sent home on Saturday and suspended by the Lions for an unspecified violation of team rules. Detroit says in a release that Mosley engaged in detrimental conduct and is suspended for two weeks. The 31-year-old Mosley has played in all seven games this season for the Lions, with no starts. He has 2 1/2 sacks.

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (AP) -- Running back Shonn Greene of the Titans was arrested for allegedly parking in a handicapped space and speeding away while an officer was issuing him a citation. Franklin, Tennessee, police Sgt. Charles Warner says Greene surrendered Friday night after being told warrants had been obtained for his arrest. Greene was released on $2,000 bond. He is due in court Nov. 13.

UNDATED (AP) -- At 7-1, the Montreal Canadiens are off to their best start since 1977. The Habs try to keep it going tonight when they host the New York Rangers at Bell Centre. The Rangers are 4-3.

The Boston Bruins, who will be without captain and defenseman Zdeno Chara (ZAY'-noh CHAH'-rah) for four to six weeks, visit Toronto tonight to play the Maple Leafs. Chara tore the posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee Thursday but will not need surgery.

Nashville, the last undefeated team at 5-0-2, is home against the 3-2-1 Pittsburgh Penguins.

Elsewhere the New Jersey Devils visit Ottawa, Dallas is at the New York Islanders, Detroit visits Philadelphia, Chicago is at St. Louis, Minnesota hosts Tampa Bay, Florida is at Arizona and the Washington Capitals are at Calgary.

In the lone day game, the San Jose Sharks are home to the Buffalo Sabres.

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. (AP) -- Will MacKenzie has a one shot lead during round-three of the PGA's McGladrey Classic in South Carolina. He is 12-under after 16 holes of play, with three players a shot back. The trio of Fabian Gomez, Andrew Svoboda and Russell Henley are all 11-under after various stages of play.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Marco Dawson is leading the Champions Tour's AT&T Championship in the second round of play. He has completed seven holes and stands 11-under-par, two shots in front of Michael Allen, Wes Short, Jr., and John Cook, who have completed 13, 8 and 7 holes respectively.

HAINAN ISLAND, China (AP) -- American Jessica Korda is the leader after two rounds of the rain-shortened LPGA event in China. She rebounded from an opening hole double bogey for a share of the lead with South Africa's Lee-Anne Pace. They stand 11-under-par.

American's Michelle Wie (wee) and Brittany Lang will start the last round at 9-under.

SINGAPORE (AP) -- Serena Williams is in the final of the WTA Finals after beating Caroline Wozniacki (wohz-nee-AK'-ee) in a third-set tiebreaker, 2-6, 6-3, 7-6. Williams remains on course for a third-straight title in the season-ending championships.

Her opponent in Sunday's final will be Simona Halep (HAL'-ehp), who beat Williams 6-0, 6-2 early in the round-robin tournament. The loss was the American's most lopsided defeat in 16 years.
