Tiger Woods focused on British Open

We are two days from the start of the British Open and Tiger Woods is the favorite to get back on track and win his fourth Claret Jug. Obviously that will be much easier said than done as Woods still hasn't won a major since the 2008 US Open.

Woods hit the course today at Royal Lytham and Saint Anne's knowing he is in control of his game. The only three time winner on the PGA tour this year, Tiger has yet to win a major but really, the last 16 majors have gone to 15 different winners. Tiger has never won in three tries at Royal Lytham and Saint Anne's but says being healthy is a great starting point.

NBA PLAYOFFS

MIAMI (AP) -- Miami took the first game of its best-of-seven NBA Eastern Conference final with Indiana, in overtime, 103-102. LeBron James won the game with a last-second basket. The contest was marked by 35 ties or lead changes and neither team led by more than seven points.

Tonight, once again in Miami, the Heat and Pacers will square off with Indiana looking to get a win before the series heads to Indianapolis.

Game 3 will take place Sunday night on the Pacers home court.

By the way, if you have wondered just how dominating the Heat have been this season, they have won 46 of their last 49 games.

NHL PLAYOFFS

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- The fifth game of the Pittsburgh-Ottawa NHL Eastern Conference semifinal is being played tonight in the Steel City. The Penguins can eliminate the Senators and move on to the conference final with a win as they top the series 3-1.

After winning the first two games in Pittsburgh the Pens dropped the third in Ottawa before winning on the Senators' home ice two nights ago, 7-3.

If a sixth game is called for, the Sens will play host on Sunday.

MLB-SCHEDULE

UNDATED (AP) -- Cleveland's Justin Masterson and Washington's Jordan Zimmermann are going to the mound tonight in search of their eighth win of the season. Tampa's Matt Moore is the lone eight-game winning pitcher in big-league baseball.

Masterson and the Indians are back in Fenway Park for the second game of their weekend series against the Red Sox, while Zimmermann and the Nationals are home to the Phillies. Moore is back on the mound tomorrow when the Rays entertain the Yankees.

The Braves are currently the hottest team in baseball with a six-game winning streak. Tonight they are in New York facing the Mets. The longest losing streak is held by Minnesota with nine straight defeats. The Twins will attempt to get back in the win column tonight with a game in Detroit.

MLB-NEWS

UNDATED (AP) -- Danny Espinosa's .163 batting average makes a lot more sense. He's been playing with a broken wrist.

Washington Nationals manager Davey Johnson said Friday that his second baseman has a small fracture in the right wrist and will rest a few days to see if it improves.

In other baseball news:

----The Chicago White Sox have reinstated pitcher John Danks from the disabled list. The 28-year-old left-hander had been sidelined for more than a year by a shoulder injury. The last time he pitched was May 19 last season before undergoing surgery in August to repair a capsule tear and remove debris in his rotator cuff and biceps.

-- Pitcher J.A. Happ has been placed on the 60-day disabled list by the Blue Jays. The left-hander is still recovering from injuries after being hit in the head with a line drive earlier this month. Happ was placed on the 15-day disabled list after sustaining a skull fracture behind his left ear when a liner off the bat of Tampa Bay's Desmond Jennings caught the pitcher on the left side of his head in the game on May 7.

-- The Philadelphia Phillies have recalled utility player Michael Martinez and right-handed reliever Michael Stutes.

-- The Boston Red Sox have placed outfielder Shane Victorino and third baseman Will Middlebrooks on the 15-day disabled list and recalled right-hander Alfredo Aceves and infielder Jose Iglesias.

-- The Seattle Mariners have designated infielder Robert Andino for assignment, recalled infielder Carlos Triunfel from Triple-A Tacoma and selected catcher Jesus Sucre.

FRENCH OPEN-DRAW

PARIS (AP) -- The seedings for next week's French Open have been announced with Novak Djokovic (NOH'-vak JOH'-kuh-vich) leading the way for the men and Serena Williams the women.
