Palm Beach Gardens EOC put through their paces to be hurricane ready
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- With hurricane season now underway one local city is doing what it can to make sure it's prepared for possible storms.

Emergency officials with Palm Beach Gardens held a mock hurricane drill scenario and practiced the roles that everyone would have in the event of a hurricane.

The drills include making sure proper systems and back-up systems in the Emergency Operations Center work properly, things like the generator and 9-1-1 call center.

Officials even sent out crews to assess the mock damage indicated by photographs they took, so they could figure out how to deal with it.

Chief Pete Bergel, PBG Fire Rescue: When you practice it, when time comes to perform, we'll be familiar with the policies and procedures, checklists we have in place in each department to make sure everything is done right.

The Emergency Operations Center in Palm Beach Gardens has only been open for about a year.

The building itself can withstand category 5 hurricane winds. Palm Beach Gardens EOC put through their paces to be hurricane ready
